M Private Home
After acquiring the property inside an antique building – previously used as a students’ house divided into 5 rooms – the client expressed the need to bring back the functionality of the spaces. By retrieving the original layout – divided into just two spaces – we aimed for enhancing the frescoed vault and the antique corner cupboards through a restoration. On the one hand, this restoration action allowed us to realise, by contrast, a kitchen island in the centre of a wide modern living area; on the other hand, a wainscoted wall encloses and hides a bedroom, a wardrobe – covered in tone-on-tone curtains facing the frescoed vault – and a large bathroom. In order not to contaminate the ceilings, the wainscoting stops in mid-air, creating a play between modern lines and images of the past.
