The intervention – carried out inside a large size apartment made of just one space, on an 18th-century square – was designed to enhance ceilings’ heights and decorations, by underlining and framing the antiques and the several paintings and books owned by the client.
We thought to realise an L-shaped mezzanine as a hanging thin sheet, attached to pillars which are an integral part of the upper bookshelf. This latter can be accessed through a bent sheet ultra-light stair. By contrast, a white modern kitchen develops over two islands just below the mezzanine.
